The Grand Union Canal runs through Blisworth and is an important feature in our community life. The Canal and River Trust are the overarching guardians of the canal but our village group, the Blisworth Canal Partnership have done a huge amount to improve and promote the section that runs through the village. To mention just a few of the achievements

Leisure activities
The canal is no longer a commercial waterway but is much used for leisure. We have some permanent moorings in the village and a constantly changing scene of boats that moor with us overnight as they journey on holiday or for a little longer if they live aboard. There is a working boatyard by the old mill, Blisworth Tunnel Narrowboats, and two marinas to the north of the village – Blisworth Marina and Gayton Marina.

The canal is a great place for:
- Walking, you can get a baby buggy along but would struggle with a wheelchair
- Exercising the dog (there are plenty of dog bins)
- Jogging
- Wildlife spotting including bat-watching
- Fishing (with an appropriate licence)
- Cycling
